Frequently Asked Questions
What do your Fitness Level Indicators refer to?
Different experiences have different fitness requirements, which are indicated for each tour by the Fitness Level indicator. The fitness levels we refer to are as follows:
Low level of fitness – Generally wheelie-walker accessible facilities; please note a Carer is required should guests have mobility concerns with any facilities on tour or boarding the coach. Please contact us for any further accessibility information.
Medium level of fitness – Guests have no mobility concerns and they have declared any pre-existing injuries which may affect their participation. Please note tours include leisurely walks. Not suitable for guests needing wheelie walkers or wheelchairs.
Do you offer Companion Card Fares?
Do you cater for dietary requirements?
Yes – our guest information includes dietary requirement indicators with a traffic light system to identify allergies, intolerances or preferences. All smokos on our Guided Overland Holidays are gluten free and we communicate with suppliers in advance to ensure dietary requirements are catered for.
We also cater for dietary requirements on our Day Tours – at Smithy’s Outback Dinner and Show, we have Gluten Free, Vegetarian/Vegan, and Children’s meals available upon request. Please enquire with us to discuss further allergies and food sensitivities.
Are the Day Tour Pick-up Buses Accessible?
There are approximately 6 steps into the bus.
Please advise us prior to your travel date if you require us to stow a walker or pram under the bus for transit. Self-drive access to products is available for those that require wheelchair access – please enquire with our friendly team upon booking for further information.

Are the Rail Motors Accessible?
The carriages are heritage rail vehicles and aren’t yet wheelchair accessible due to the width of the aisles. There is a step between the platform and the carriages; however, an access ramp is available at the Longreach and Ilfracombe Railway Stations – please contact our friendly Reservations to confirm this upon booking.
Some Rail experiences require the use of steps or include an unpaved walk – these are marked with a Medium Fitness Level. Please note, the Great Darr River Rail run includes a guided Mulga Walk on a loose sandy surface for an approximate length of 369.1 meters.
Please advise us if you require assistance to board.
Are your Guided Overland Holidays Accessible?
Mobility requirements differ per tour. Please refer to the Fitness Level Indicators for each tour and contact us to discuss if you have any questions.
Can I travel on a Guided Overland Holiday if I require prescription medication?
Yes! We would love to welcome you on tour. We provide confidential sealed envelopes for emergency information, have prescription medication advice on our packing lists, and have onboard fridges that can store refrigerated medication.
Do you allow Assistance Animals on Day Tours?

Are your Charter Tours Accessible?
Please contact us to discuss your options.
My wife, Suzanne, required some assistance in boarding and disembarking the coach, as well as some walking requirements. Vissie and Linda went out of the way to provide her with physical support and assistance, as well as, on occasions, mobility support such as chairs and moving apparatus. This was seen, not as one of their requirements, but a genuine caring and supportive role they undertook with empathy and compassion. I was personally moved by their real feelings and dedication to ensuring we were treated to the best personal experience in human caring possible.
I cannot express enough, in words, our genuine appreciation of what these two extraordinary people provided for us.
