Day 1: Saturday – Brisbane
Your adventure begins with a Welcome Dinner at our tour hotel. Please check in after 2.00pm. You will be met by your Savannah Guides Operator driver-guides at the Welcome Dinner. Meet fellow travelers and hear all about the adventures ahead with a comprehensive tour briefing by our team.

Day 2: Sunday – St George
This morning, experience the changing landscapes as we cross the Great Dividing Range, and through the Darling Downs to the great Southwest of Queensland. Enjoy the hospitality and diversity of St. George, the Gateway of the Outback. While in St. George we will visit the newly restored Anchorage Homestead and more highlights of the region. Late afternoon, savour the stories and taste the local produce during an exclusive dinner for our first night in the region together.

Day 3: Monday – St George
This morning, we take in the highlights of the St. George area including a visit to the famous ‘Unique Egg’ followed by an informative Cotton and Vineyard Tour. After lunch at the Riversands Winery, enjoy some free time before experiencing the Balonne River onboard the ‘Balonne Baroo Andoo’ nature cruise, taking in the local flora, fauna and cultural history of the area with enriched commentary and wildlife encounters. Marvel at the changing colours of the sunset with a selection of nibbles and drinks on board before returning to your accommodation for dinner.
Day 4: Tuesday – Thargomindah
This morning, we travel to Cunnamulla, where you will browse exhibits featuring the rich culture and heritage of the region at the Cunnamulla Fella Museum, featuring the larger-than-life statue in tribute to the Aussie larrikin stockman himself. Call into the historic Eulo Queen Hotel and learn about the Eulo Queen en-route to Thargomindah. Once arriving in Thargomindah, we embark on a town tour including the Artesian Hydro Power Plant, believed to be the oldest, working unit in Australia.

Day 5: Wednesday – Toogunna Plains
This morning, we stop by the Heritage listed Noccundra Hotel before making our way to Eromanga, the furthest town from the sea and home to Australia’s largest dinosaur. Get up and close to a 95-million-year-old dinosaur bone on the Australian Dinosaur Giant’s Tour at the Eromanga Natural History Museum. Wander the interpretive corridor and see the multi-media theatre experience before enjoying lunch at the museum. This afternoon, we make our way to Toogunna Plains Farmstay to learn the history of this 4th generation family-owned sheep and cattle property. Take some time to relax and enjoy the panoramic views of this vast open plain and take in the dazzling outback colours over the rolling red sand hills during an exclusive sunset tour before enjoying a gourmet paddock-to-plate dinner experience after a big day of activities.

Day 6: Thursday – Charleville
This morning, we travel to Quilpie, where we will take a short tour and visit St. Finbarr’s Church, before admiring the stunning opal alter, lectern and Font. Following this, we depart Quilpie for Charleville through Mulga ridges and flats on the banks of the Warrego River. This afternoon, in Charleville, we will visit the top-secret site of the United States Army Air Force. Visit the intriguing historical sites, understand the reasoning behind choosing Charleville, Queensland as a WWII base and learn about the highly classified computerized bomb aimer. Then, at the Royal Flying Doctor Service Museum, you’ll get a better understanding of one of the Outback’s most iconic services. Early evening, visit the Cosmos Centre for the Big Sky Twilight Tour. See an amazing night sky brought into focus with the help of powerful Meade telescopes and listen to captivating stories from their experienced sky guides.

Day 7: Friday – Homeward Bound
This morning, visit the Charleville Bilby Experience for a tour of the nocturnal house. Learn about the incredible volunteer program under way to protect this environmental engineering marvel. Then, be inspired by the farmer who turned a long-term dream into reality with a tour of the Charleville Date Farm. Learn how dates grow and how reclaimed water came to be used for this environmentally friendly project. Best of all, enjoy a delicious date loaf and lunch. Your Southwestern Adventure comes to an end with a complimentary transfer to Charleville Airport or Charleville Railway Station.
