Today we are doing all things local in Winton! Learn how Australian transport pioneers carved our transport network at the Heritage Truck and Machinery Museum. We will visit the Waltzing Matilda Centre, a museum that tells the story of Waltzing Matilda, Australia’s unofficial national anthem, the Winton region and the outback. Mid-afternoon, we take a short drive out of town to the Australian Age of Dinosaurs Museum, perched high on a spectacular mesa (majestic flat top hills). Join a guided interpretive tour of the laboratory and collection room. Take in the moment at our very special sunset barbecue overlooking the plains where dinosaurs once roamed before being immersed in the Gondwana Observatory night experience.

The 6 day Legendary Longreach and Winton Tour offered “city slickers” like us a good taste of the Queensland Outback. In October 2022, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed Outback Aussie Tours' 6-day Legendary Longreach and Winton Tour. The trip showcased the Queensland Outback with great accommodation choices and fantastic attractions. Notably, the tour personnel, Danny and Janet, were a dynamic duo, making the journey even more special. Highlights included visits to Longreach School of Distance Education, Stockman's Hall of Fame, and Dinosaur Stampede. As can be appreciated from the above summary of places and attractions visited, the staff at Outback Aussie Tours have gone out of their way to provide “city slickers” such as my wife and I from Brisbane, a good taste of the Queensland Outback. We highly recommend the Legendary Longreach and Winton Tour for a taste of Outback adventure.

Legendary Longreach and Winton This tour provided great insights into various aspects of life in Central West Queensland. It was varied and informative, and our guide, Bill, was one of the best I have travelled with - especially considering he was doing the work of 2. He really cared that we enjoyed ourselves. It was fairly "full on", but there was some down time each day. The evening at Camden Park station was the highlight for me.

“
Longreach and Winton Experience Excellent service on this popular tour. Our guide and driver Danny gave us all a wonderful experience of the Outback. Despite rain closing roads to some areas, he did his best to compensate with alternate arrangements. We felt safe and cared for every mile we travelled.

This was a great tour, very comprehensive and interesting. We saw so much of Longreach and Winton. Very knowledgeable tour guides too. My highlight was going to Camden Park station and meeting Outback Dan, who was both knowledgeable and funny.

JUST DO IT for an Outstanding Outback Experience A wonderful tour. Great hosts (Janet and Danny). Every event was memorable. Outback Dinners under the Stars, Thomson River Cruise, Stockman Hall of Fame, Qantas, Dinosaur Stampede and Australian Age of Dinosaurs outstanding. School of Distance Education tour was so informative. Visiting and hearing about the vast cattle/sheep stations. Everything and everyone were so accommodating, helpful and informative All food, transport and accommodation above expectations. A must do if you want a taste of outback Australia. We flew out (Qantas) and trained (sleeper) back. A MUST DO.
