For full tour details and to secure your place, our expert team is ready to help you plan your unforgettable Outback Opera Glamping experience.

Day 1: Saturday - Brisbane

Arriving in Longreach on your QantasLink flight, your Outback cultural sojourn begins with a VIP welcome lunch and tour at the Qantas Founders Museum. Enjoy a curated VIP Airpark and Hangar Tour, with rare access to the cockpits of both the mighty Boeing 747 and the elegant Super Constellation.

Mid afternoon, settle into your luxury safari tent at Mitchell Grass Retreat – a haven of understated elegance, where king beds, deep tubs and private decks open out to sweeping Mitchell Grass plains.

Late afternoon, journey just ten minutes beyond town to Camden Park Station, an 18,000-acre working cattle property that has welcomed everyone from the nation’s first stockmen to Queen Elizabeth II. Tonight, its wide horizons and glowing skies form the stage for Singing in the Night. As surrounding plains are wrapped in a soft twilight hue, Opera Queensland’s finest voices rise, accompanied by an orchestra and University of Queensland musicians.

Returning to Mitchell Grass Retreat, gather at The Tin Shed, the retreat’s bespoke dining venue, for a relaxed two-course barbecue dinner. Later, beneath a canopy of stars, gather around the fire pit to toast marshmallows as Texas Longhorns quietly graze in the paddocks beyond

Day 2: Sunday - Longreach

Begin your day with a relaxed champagne breakfast at the Tin Shed.

Mid-morning, bring your best voices to the collaborative Sing, Sing, Sing event at The Drover’s Place. Led by Opera Queensland artists, this uplifting session invites singers of all levels of experience, ability and heart to come together for fabulous singing and socialising.

Travel the short distance to nearby Ilfracombe and the historic Wellshot Hotel. Established in the 1880s, this iconic watering hole was famously relocated from Barcaldine by rail in 1890. Snap a selfie on the quirky bar stools at the one-of-a-kind wool press bar, then enjoy an outback pub lunch amid eclectic memorabilia.

Relax and refresh at Mitchell Grass Retreat before boarding the heritage railmotor at Longreach Railway Station. Toast the sunset with a glass of champagne as the train winds through open plains towards Smithy’s Crossing, then transfer to Smithy’s Camp for the fabulous Opera Ball.

Festoon lighting beneath the stars sets the scene as some of Australia’s finest singers perform a series of opera favourites while you enjoy a three-course camp-oven dinner. The evening rounds out in true bush style with billy tea and damper. When the music shifts, the dancefloor comes alive with an upbeat DJ set, the bar stays open, and you’re invited to dance the night away beside the Thomson River.

Day 3: Monday - Longreach

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast basket at Mitchell Grass Retreat, savouring the stillness of the morning from your private deck before check-out. Spend some free time in downtown Longreach, browsing its outback-themed boutiques and local foodie favourites, from coffee shops to character-filled pubs.

Mid-morning, transfer to the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame, an award-winning cultural icon that celebrates the legends of the bush. Explore its themed galleries, each telling stories of pioneering heritage, resilience and ingenuity that shaped life in remote Australia. Then take your seat for the entertaining Stockman’s Live Show, where skill, humour and bushcraft combine in a lively celebration of outback traditions. Round out the experience with a relaxed Stockman’s lunch delivered in true country style.

Transfer to Longreach Airport for your QantasLink group flight to Brisbane, after a truly memorable outback-flavoured cultural weekend.
