What’s up?
Look carefully to the rear of this image and you’ll see one of our guests looking up at the ceiling. Yep, there’s dollars up there on the roof. It’s part of a quirky tradition at the historic Wellshot Hotel in Ilfracombe – tossing money up to the roof and making it stay there. You wrap a coin in a five dollar note, attach a tack and then toss it up to the ceiling. Our guests soon found that this was no easy task. The money doesn’t always stay put and it’s pretty important to keep an eye out for your falling coin. But, they all had a pretty good time trying. Another interesting fact about the Wellshot Hotel is that it was relocated several times by bullock and cart along the railway line to find it’s home today in Ilfracombe.
