Day 1: Sunday – Longreach
Arrive in Longreach by the Spirit of the Outback train where you will be met by your Savannah Guides Operator driver-guide and transferred to your accommodation. Enjoy a barbeque welcome dinner with your driver-guide at the Woolshed Restaurant and meet your fellow travellers.

Day 2: Monday – Longreach
Receive a warm welcome to Longreach at the historic Rosebank Station, originally settled as a sheep and cattle station some 100 years ago. Enjoy local hospitality with morning tea and great stories. Mid-morning, board our Heritage 2000 class Rail Motor en-route to the one pub town of Ilfracombe, with stories of nostalgia to tell your mates about for years to come. Feel the freedom of the vast open plains before disembarking in Ilfracombe to explore the unique attractions in “the Hub of the West” like the Wellshot centre, the Machinery Mile, and grab some lunch at the famous Wellshot Hotel. This afternoon, wander the world-class Qantas Founders Museum, eloquently telling the story of the founding of Qantas. View marvelous interpretive and interactive exhibits then join a guided Airpark Tour. This evening, marvel at the entertaining and informative Luminescent Longreach Sound and Light Show, which brings the 100-year-story of Qantas to life followed by an exclusive dinner surrounded by aviation history. Wander through the interactive displays to discover the real Qantas story.
Day 3: Tuesday – Longreach
This morning, we explore the fascinating themed galleries at the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame and discover inspiring stories of our pioneering heroes. Take your seat at the exciting Stockman’s Live Show to witness the traditional Stockman skills that are still used today including the amazing horsemanship and the action of a live muster, before enjoying lunch at the Drovers Place, with acres of established native gardens and a breathtaking sandstone cottage, built by RM Williams himself. Late afternoon, join the Drovers Sunset Cruise on the beautiful Thomson River. Unwind with on-board nibbles as you gaze out to a magnificent outback sunset. Enjoy live entertainment and a two-course camp oven themed dinner under the stars at Smithy’s Outback Dinner & Show.
Day 4: Wednesday – Longreach
Board the Heritage Rail Motors for the Great Darr River Rail Run and take in the changing country as you encounter wildlife and bring alive the numerous waterholes, passing scrub and grasslands with incredible natural and cultural heritage. Step off the rail motors for a short Mulga walk, learn of bush medicines and the secrets of the Leander Sand Ridge. Enjoy a homemade morning tea after arriving at the beautiful Darr River waterhole. After returning to Longreach enjoy lunch a the Branch Cafe, a local favourite, before taking some time to explore the main district of Longreach at your own leisure. This afternoon, we board the Heritage Rail Motors once more for the Silver-Tails Rail Sunset Tour and experience the spectacular changing colours of sunset amongst the floodplain, Gidgee, Open Downs, Ghost Gums and Red Mulga Country. Enjoy a selection of freshly prepared signature canapes carefully curated to give you a taste of the land around you and toast the sunset as the light fades into the darkening sky. Return back to the Woolshed restaurant and enjoy a farewell dinner with your fellow travellers and reminisce on memories made while immersed in the romance of rail.
Day 5: Thursday – Homeward Bound
Your Outback adventure will come to an end when following breakfast, we transfer you to your point of departure.
