Your Longreach Cup adventure begins today with a QantasLink flight to Longreach. On arrival at Longreach Airport, you’ll be met by your Outback Aussie Tours Driver/Guide for a welcome to Longreach Town Orientation prior to check in at the Longreach Motor Inn. After a short break, we explore the Qantas Founders Museum presenting the fascinating story of Qantas from its fledgling days in Outback Queensland to present day as Australia’s national carrier. Enjoy a guided interpretive tour where you are taken behind the scenes of a Boeing 747, Boeing 707, and Lockheed Super Constellation. As the sun sets, experience a memorable show as we watch the unforgettable narrative of early aviation, iconic aircraft, wars, distant places, and outback innovation. The Boeing 747 serves as the canvas, the story is shown through world class projection mapping and immersive sound. This evening, we will be treated to an exclusive two course dinner in the Qantas Founders museum, before returning to your accommodation to relax into your first night in Outback Queensland.

Following breakfast, we’ll visit the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame, a visually splendid tribute to the people of Outback Australia. Discover the inspiring stories of the pioneers, stockmen and women, and the first nations people that lived in the rugged interior of our vast nation through the museum and live encounter. Our lunch setting today at the Drover’s Place is steeped in history featuring a beautiful stone cottage and acres of native gardens. After some free time at your accommodation, we head out to the historic Rosebank station for a paddock tour, and stories of yesteryear. Originally settled as a sheep and cattle station some 100 years ago, Rosebank was famously visited in 1959 by Princess Alexandra and Princess Alice. Finish the day at the homestead with a savouries at sunset dinner prior to taking in the Calcutta at the Birdcage Hotel. This Calcutta event allows you to buy or be entertained by the chance of bidding and/ or picking the winner of the Longreach Cup in great Longreach tradition.

Enjoy an easy start to the day with brunch at the Branch Café. Share the local tips from last night’s Calcutta and get ready for the major event of the Longreach Cup. It’s time for the main event at the Longreach racecourse, including the VIP tent hosted by the Longreach Jockey Club. Relax and take in the atmosphere of being trackside for the races, with a progressive food and beverage package to enjoy the hospitality as it flows through the afternoon. Try your luck with a flutter with the local bookies and maybe enter the Fashions on The Field competition. This evening, celebrate the wins with dinner at Harry’s restaurant.

After breakfast at your accommodation, we join the Historic Ilfracombe Rail Excursion. This is a great lazy Sunday experience as we leave Longreach Station and head east to feel the freedom of the vast open plains. Disembarking in Ilfracombe, enjoy time to explore the great stories and character of this quaint little town, before quenching your thirst with a welcome drink and lunch at the famous Wellshot Hotel. A charming relaxed morning, returning to your accommodation midafternoon. Tonight, we join the award-winning Drover’s Sunset Cruise where the colours of the outback come alive at sunset as you glide on the Thomson River aboard the M.V. Longreach Explorer. After captivating stories and a fantastic way to finish the day, we dock at Smithy’s Outback Dinner & Show. Relax under the stars with table-service dining featuring camp-oven themed modern cuisine. Live on stage, our talented musical performer will entertain you with their songs and stories.

A leisurely morning where we visit the historic Powerhouse Museum, a nostalgic glimpse into the social history and activities that shaped Longreach to what it is today. Enjoy some leisure time to explore downtown Longreach before our farewell Lunch at the Branch Café. Your Longreach Cup Stayers package sadly comes to an end as we transfer back to the Longreach Airport for your flight departure with stories to tell your friends and family for years.
